Kerala Voluntary Health Services is step up to another year with continues its efforts on to address issues in health and development. Forty seven years of dedicated service made the organization resourceful and professional. Therefore now Kerala VHS is an authentic name in Kerala’s public Health. Some of our initiatives like Health Promotion through Ayurveda got National and International recognition. Kerala VHS is honored once again by Bloomberg Global Initiative by extending its support to our Tobacco Control Programmes. Our partnerships with Government in various programmes are considered to be models of Public- Private Partnership in the state. KVHS is now one of the accredited organizations to conduct Social Impact Assessment Studies for Government. We are growing and our responsibility is widening.
During the worst hit flood in August 2018 we responded with relief measures in five districts and reached out more than 6000 families with relief assistance including medical care. We are thanks to VHAI and its member organizations for the timely support and guidance to KVHS during the disaster. This helps us to widen our reach.
Kerala VHS completed fifteen Social Impact Assessment Studies and seven are ongoing. Our studies for Kannur international Airports, Kochi Metro Extension, Mattannur Industrial Park Etc are widely discussed in development circles.
With the guidance of Mr. Alok Mukhopadyaya and VHAI health promotion division KVHS developed a community model to improve the health. Different scales were developed to measure the intake of salt, sugar, oil etc. After the field testing the scales are now ready for its application.
Our Collaborations are with BGI Grants, VHAI, WHO, The Union, ICCO, American Cancer Society, PHFI and TFK continued with technical and resource support.
“Suraksha” project for target intervention to control AIDS epidemic entered in to its new phase with new targets. The project received appreciable ranking in all exercises done by Kerala AIDS Control Society.
Our “Jalanidhi” Project (Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project) is in its finishing point. Out of the 24 schemes 23 were handed over to Panchayath and Beneficiary groups. The remaining one will be handed over at any time. We are thanks to RPMU, Thodupuzha, Kangazha Grama Panchayath and Beneficiary groups for the Continuous cooperation and support since 2013.
